From Homecoming to the Bayou
Homecoming 2008 was a success for the 'Dogs. We got to see some old friends, they beat a Top 25 team, and no one got injured. I like the way this team is playing heading into LSU & Florida. All 3 phases are solid right now. Looks to me like they are ready to play their best football of the season. And to win these two games, they will have to put it all together.
Offensively, the big guns are leading the way. It's Moreno time. Knowshon elevated his performance level last season at this time. Looks like he's ready to turn it on again. Against Vandy, Bobo got him 24 touches. Expect that work-load to go up the next two games. Feed him...the ball ain't heavy. Moreno gashed the Commodores on 1st down with 13 totes for over 100 yards. He had 5 carries over 13 yards. But it doesn't stop there.
Stafford and Green have got it going on too. The 'Dogs attack downfield with these two and its working. Remember when the Georgia receivers had trouble catching Stafford's bullets two seasons ago? Green makes it look easy. Strong hands! If LSU & Florida ant to try and take away A.J., then Massaquoi will burn'm. The big-play guys are all stepping up right now on offense.
Matt's 4 INTCs the last two games have some knucklehead fans taking cheap shots. These dudes have no idea what they are talking about. Let's examine quickly. The two against Tennessee: one was a bubble screen where the DE fell off into the route and the other was a end zone route where Moore fell down. Blaming Stafford for those two would be unfair. Against Vandy, one was tipped at the L.O.S. by a DL. These things happen, but it certainly isn't the QBs fault. He did make a bad throw on the other one, where he underthrew a deep route on the full gallop.
It's not like he's standing back there forcing the ball into bad spots. Enough of this.
Bobo's offense the last two games: 883 total yards, 381 rushing yards, 141 plays, zero sacks, and only 6 punts. They are moving the ball effectively. Just have to start cashing in for 7, instead of settling for 3. They should have scored 40+ against the Vols and 30+ against Vandy.
On defense, the 'Dogs have hunkered down the last two games too. The Vols got 10 first downs and 209 total yards. Vandy got 245 yards. Both scored 14 points. I'd say that's hunkering down. Coach Martinez must be pleased with where they are heading into LSU & Florida. The one big concern is Bryan Evan's CB spot. He's getting picked on opposite Asher Allen. Got to fix that this week.
Special teams play is solid too.
These guys appear ready to take on the Bengal Tigers and the Fightin' Gators.

Hey Buck, I really have enjoyed the show. I think you do a subtle job of letting us know how the Dawgs are going to do and not being a total homer. You do show you respect the program and love it, though. Just wanted to thank you for the good article on Stafford, really enjoyed it. You are a DGD, thanks, Jason.
