Win Ugly at Auburn

In college football, you take'm any way you can get'm. And Georgia got an ugly win at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn is a bad football team this year. The 'Dogs played down to the competition. But put it the win column. It will still count as a victory.
It all started so impressively. Georgia got the opening kick-off and took it right to Auburn's strength---the Tiger defense. Stafford, Moreno and the boys drove 9 plays to the Tiger 3 yard line. That's when the ugliness started, with a blocked field goal. The 'Dogs right guard got knocked back on his rear end and the kid kicked it about two yards off the ground. That set the tone.
Next came the roughing the punter/fumble the punt play. Ugly. Next: they leave Fannin open open out of the backfield...the result is a big-play TD, which gave Auburn a 6-0 lead. Mix in a knucklehead personal fouls by Rashad Jones and Richard Samuel, plus a facemask penalty by Lomax. Boiling jumped on a 2nd and one play, inside the Tiger 30 and the 'Dogs can't overcome a 2nd/long & 3/long situations...0 points. At the end, Georgia tried to run out the clock, but a fumbled snap on a 2/6 play ruins that idea. The 'Dogs have to punt and that gives Auburn shots to win the game.
If Auburn wasn't so bad, the 'Dogs would have lost.
However, there were a few impressive things that came out of this victory.
Fans should recognize that Martinez blitzed and played man. RaMarcus Brown stepped up big in coverage. Kodi Burns thried to pick on him and Brown held up with a few big plays. Rennie Curran saved the day, with a big play on the games final play. Curran ---locked up in man coverage---recognized a wheel route by Ben Tate and prevented a TD pass. A.J. Green got the game-winning TD catch. There are probably only a handful of WRs in all of College Football that would have made that catch. A.J. went full extension, over the middle of the field, made the catch and took a shot. Moreno was awesome, again. Geno Atkins was a force. Josh Davis help up in his first start at OT. Mimbs bombed some punts. The cover teams were solid.
Richt said afterward, "we need a day off." The coaches have had 1-2 days off since they got it cranked up n August. This team needs a break, after this long, extended road trip (the longest in the nation this year).
Up next is Georgia Tech. And the Jackets can't wait to give'm their best shot.
