'Dogs Need Searels to Stay
Stacy Searels is busy weighing his options right now. Auburn's new coach Gene Chizik wants him on his staff. Richt doesn't want to lose him. Recruits are wating on a decision. Players are wondering what his decision might bring. From the outside, the decision seems a little obvious.
Searels has got a great job right now. He's got family around him. I believe Mom lives close by. Richt is a really good guy to work under. They don't put in 26 hour work days. Stacy and Mike Bobo have a quality relationship. Together they prepare gameplans. There is outstanding talent to coach up. What's not to like? Searels has got everyone of his OL back next season.
At Auburn, the challenge is huge. Saban and Alabama have got it going on. I'm sure Searels is not scared of a challenge but this looks like an uphill battle for the short-term. Georgia will contend. Auburn may not. I was told recently that Searels has a great love for Auburn. He played there. He won there. It holds a special place in his heart. Cool. I can buy that. But that doesn't mean it's smart to make a lateral move there.
Chizik will have to make him an offer that includes the Offensive Coordinator title, or the Assistant Head Coach title. Otherwise, Searels will stay put.
If Searels makes the move, Richt is in a tight spot. How do you replace that guy? The staff would take a step back without him.
