Falcons Improvement Plan 2009

Thomas Dimitroff knows a good NFL prospect when he studies one. And he's knee deep in studying right now. It's time to locate some new pieces for Coach Mike Smith and his staff. The Senior Bowl practices are upcoming, and then the combine arrives. The evaluation process is kicking into high gear. They are calling it: The Course of Action.
It's all about getting better...improving this team.
I think it has to start up front. Solidify the OL. Protect Matty-Ice and keep Turner rolling. Build around Blaylock and Baker. The draft is deep this year in OL. Go get'm. On defense, that coverage would get a lot better if someone other than Abraham could rush the passer. Basically, Dimitroff has to find an impact guy at DT. That position group went missing in Phoenix. Check out the remaining playoff teams this weekend. They all have physical dudes in the middle.
Tight-end is also a position that needs an upgrade. Matt Ryan needs a go to guy there, which would open up the underneath passing game. Coffman at MIssouri loks like a great fit.
Obviously, big decisions have to be made on Milloy, Brooking and Boley. This is dangerous. Got to be careful cutting out leaders. I'd rather have a guy that has lost a step, who leads..than some hot-shot freak, who doesn't lead.
