Where Has Buck Been?
There is some misinformation out there that I want to clear up. I have been out of work because of a case of Bell's Palsy. It is a nerve disorder that happens suddenly and without warning. The condition occurs when a nerve that controls facial movement is damaged. Probably caused by an upper respiratory I had prior to Christmas.
I've been unable to completely close my left eye. My left cheek has experienced some numbness. And the left side of my upper lip is droopy. I continue to talk with a little slurred speech. So, obviously doing a 4 hour talk radio show presents some problems right now. The specialist---Mark Harris--- tells me it will clean up---with the use of meds---in 2-3 weeks to several months. Just got back from the physical therapist---Julie Epstein at Emory Johns Creek Hospital---where I had some electronic stimulation and got some at-home facial exercises. And hoping for a quick recovery.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Hang in there Buck. Went through the same thing several years ago, except instead of my eye staying open, it would not close. It took several weeks, but it finally cleared up. Hope things get better.

Buck,
I once had a roommate who suffered briefly from Bell's. It was a bit embarrassing for him, so he stayed in, for the most part, but it nevertheless cleared up pretty fast.
Hang in there and keep bangin' out the e-mails.

Hey Buck, hang in there. I am paralyzed on the right side of my face permanently from an accident I suffered 8 years ago. Through much of the shock treatments and therapy you have gone through, it is hard for anyone to tell that I have a problem at all. Only when I demonstrate a goofy smile can they tell anymore.
The only fun part was accidentally spitting beer out of the right side of my mouth when I would take a sip...a good time was had by all but the guy to your right.
In our thoughts and prayers. Hurry back; John is ruining your show man.

Hey Buck,
As the Stones said, "What a drag it is to get old"....grin. As a mid 40's fella myself, I've dealt with a few of those health issues (knee, back, successful surgery on both) and wish you a speedy recovery from your ailments.
I too am a long time listener to your show, never call in, just enjoy the show.
If I may ramble a bit, one of my favorite, if not my favorite Bulldog moment memories is the 90 plus yard pass of yours to Lindsay that beat Florida that day. I was washing my car in the yard listening to Larry call the game.
I started being a Dawg fan when Rex Robinson signed to play there. He was the kicker for my Marietta Blue Devils and two years ahead of me there. WOW, that guy could KICK!!!
Anyway, get well soon Dawg!

David Dean from Quitman, GA here. I now live in Stone Mountain.
So glad to learn that it's "just" Bells Palsy.
I had it once, and it cleared up in about three weeks.
Until it did, I would tell store clerks, etc. that I had "just been to the dentist."
They would always smile and reply, "Oh, okay." And that would be it. I simply got tired of having to explain to everyone what Bells Palsy is.
BP is one of those ailments that you've never heard of... until YOU get it. You then become an expert on it.
Good luck, and get well soon.
Go Dogs,

Buck,Best wishes for a speedy recovery from a fellow South Georgia boy (Brunswick)I've lived with the symptoms of BP for all of my 49 years. The right side of my face is paralyzed and I cannot close my right eye. Be glad that there is an end in sight for you. Hang in there. That's what Erk would tell us. I appreciate the support and props for Erk. I'm an ardent GSU fan who was there when Erk built a dynasty out of the South Georgia sand, and I was and am a fan of the Dawgs. In my heart, GSU is 1A and UGA is 1AA. Sorry about rambling, but I just want to imagine what Erk would say to you now. I know you can't really do it, but I'd appreciate it if you'd slug Kincade the next time he insults Georgia Southern.
