Bradford Stays & Sanchez Goes
The deadline for underclassmen to apply for the NFL Draft is Thursday at midnight. Either you're in, or you are out. Well, you can apply by midnight on the 15th, and then pull out within 72 hours, if you have not hired an agent. Right now, two big-name QBs are down to decision time. What's it going to be guys?
Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez both have 1st round grades, but both are swrestled with what to do. The lure, besides the big-money? Let me guess.
Bradford is considering the fact that the Kansas City Chiefs have the #3 pick. Sam is from Oklahoma City. Talk about a great fit. Stay home, play near home and become financially secure. Come back to play for the Sooners next season, and the fit won't be perfect...might end up in Buffalo.
But Sam is willing to take that risk. Sooner fans are loving this, and so is Coach Bob Stoops. Probably a good decision. Sam is a young dude. Only played two years, after a redshirt. He can get bigger, stronger, more experienced. Plus, mature some more. He's a guy that looked in the mirror and said I'm not ready to make the jump quite yet.
Sanchez is looking at the 49ers with that #10 pick. Mark is a California dude. Here is another great fit. Stay close to home, play for the home team, and get set for life. Come back to USC next season and the fit might not be so good...could end up in Jacksonville.
There are certainly no guarantees Sanchez will go to SF. Maybe he shines over the next several months and he steals that Detroit opportunity away from Stafford or someone else. Bottom line is Mark is now in competition with Matt, and the game is on to see who is the 1st QB off the board.
