Time To Line Up The Hats
Time for the talented High School football players to make big decisions. Get those different college hats lined up in the school library and pick one from the pile. Make the big announcement and eat some cake with your family and high school friends. That day is coming fast. But there is time for one last weekend visit. One last opportunity for the colege coaches to put on the hard sell.
Coach Richt and his staff have lined up another quality group. They wait word on a few more that would elevate this class even higher on the Top 10 lists.
Carver-Columbus LB Jarvis Jones has a trip to LSU scheduled for his final visit. He's already been to Florida, Texas, USC and Georgia. A couple of years ago, before all this attention, Jarvis dreamed of the day he could play for the 'Dogs, now I'm hearing he is leaning Florida's way. But he's done a good job with his poker face. His anouncement comes on signing day. Wonder if he will line up the hats? And if he is headed to play for the Gators, he was smart to keep that quiet in a Georgia town like Columbus.
Lowndes High CB Greg Reid reportedly has taken the Gators off the list. Georgia wants him in Bulldog red. Pair him up with Branden Smith in a year or two and Georgia looks solid at CB. Stay tuned.
Georgia fans keep asking me if Richt will sign a WR in this class? Rantavious Wooten has made a VC. meanwhile, they hold out hope that Marlon Brown, the state of Tennessee's top rated player, will decide to come to Georgia. he's a 6-5, 200 lb receiver that would look good opposite A.J. Green for the next 2-3 years. The Kiffin's are pushing hard. Ole MIss is making a late run. Ohio State has some appeal. It's wait and see with Marlon.
Big Bobby Massie is an OT looking for a home, after a year in prep school. Word has it visits georgia this weekend. Saban is hot on his trail. Miami wants him, and so does UNC and Ole Miss. He is a mountain of a young man. Searels would love to have him in the fold. Stay tuned.
