Steelers Are World Champions

Super Bowl 43 was good stuff. Dramatic. Hard-faught. A winner. Even the bandwagon Cardinal fans had to be proud of the way their team performed. Steeler fans will be bragging about this one for years to come. One for the other thumb. They now have a 6-pack of championship rings.
No apologies to Pittsburgh receiver Santonio Holmes, but Ben Roethlisberger was the MVP. In typical fashion, the big QB hung in the pocket, avoided the pressure, bought a little extra time for his receivers to get open, and delivered strikes to guys like Holmes. If Leftwich is the QB, Pittsburgh gets beat. Santonio made an amazing catch on that game-winning TD, but Big Ben delivered a pin-point, perfect pass, over 3 defenders. I didn't have a vote, but it would have been Big Ben.
Fitzgerald got off late in the game, but he sure had a slow start. Only 1 catch in the 1st half. The Steelers played a heavy dose of Cover 2, which has a CB roled up on top of him, and a safety back over the top. that's also a reason Troy Polamalu only had 2 tackles on the night---he was playing one of those deep safety spots in Cover 2. Pittsburgh was able to stuff the run with their front 7. That was huge.
The biggest play of the game was that 100 yard INTC return by Harrison for a TD, to end the first half. That was a huge 14 point swing. Arizona was 1 yard from being up 14-10 at half. Instead, they went in down 17-7. LaBeau dialed up one of those nasty zone blitzes and confused Kurt Warner. James Harrison appeared like he was rushing pre-snap, but dropped back into the slant passing lane and Warner couldn't see him because of the rush. Even a bigger mistake was not getting him on the ground after the pick. Cost them the Super Bowl.
The Cardinals must be looking for another safety...Aaron Francisco was terrible. He got caught out of position several times. Dockett was almost unblockable...6 tackles and 2 sacks. Woodley had 4 tackles and 2 sacks for the Steelers. The Pittsburgh LBs combined for 17 tackles. Bertrand Berry pulled a no-show...0 tackles.
Two class-act head coaches in this one. Wisenhunt did an awesome job this season and handled the loss with class. Tomlin was awesome too. A real class act in victory.
So, the football season has come to an end. I hate that every year.
