Stafford's Private Workout For Lions
Matt's now done all he can possibly do to impress the Detroit Lions. The private workout in Athens, directed by the new Lions OC Scott Linahan and QB Coach Jeff Horton, went down this morning and Stafford pulled out the "wow factor". With Massaquoi, Harris, Goodman and Chandler running Detroit routes, Matt went 37 for 40. Accuracy was obviously not a problem today. One report out of Detroit stated that the Lions were impressed by his mechanics and delivery. They should have noticed that before today. That's nonsense. Just plug in the game tape and you can see that.
What else can this guy do to convince them he's worthy of the #1 pick?
Matt's pursued the job. Remember the comment: I want to be the Lions QB.
He was impressive during his visit to Detroit and at the combine. Reportedly, Matt aced the dry erase board tests the Lions brass threw at him, which consisted of drawing up pass plays and defenses.
The Pro Day performance was impressive.
The Private Workout went A-Okay.
Now the only thing left to do is have his agent negotiate a reasonable contract.
I'm hoping Matt falls a little on draft day. That will cost him some large dollars, but he'll end up in a better place. Probably have a better chance of being successful. And in the long run, make up for that $15M more he would have gotten from Detroit. The Jags would be a good it. Maybe the Broncos move up and ship Cutler out at the same time. Anywhere but Detroit.
