Little Chat With Coach Richt
Had a little chat with Coach Richt today and mixed in some good Georgia Bulldog football talk. You can tell he really likes this team, by the way he talks about them. He feels good about the O-Line and the D-Tackle position. The line of scrimmage is looking like the strength of this 2009 team, if the D-End guys can come through. These 'Dogs will be strong from the inside-out, and that's always a good thing. Win the battle up front and you win a lot of games.
Defensive end is the obvious problem spot. A position of focus. We all know that. Coach Richt feels good about Rod Battle's chances of stepping up and playing some impact football. Dobbs and Tripp are talented dudes, who can run and make athletic plays. And Richt believes that Montez Robinson is a freshman that has a chance to make an impact in year one.
Cornerback is another potential problem area, where Asher Allen bolted early. Prince Miller is solid and proven. And Coach Richt seems to believe that Vance Cuff will play ball in this his junior season. Sophomore Brandon Boykin is poised to earn that boundry corner spot, and Sanders Cummings looks to me like a CB that has some ball skills. They'll need all of'm. And hot-shot freshmen Branden Smith might compete too.
One thing's pretty obvious. Mark thinks that the improved play on the O-Line will make life easier at QB & RB. Easier to look good. Easier to get the job done. I couldn't agree more.
