Stafford & Some 'Dawg Talk

That "Pick 6" Matt threw to former Bulldog turned Falcons LB Tony Gilbert was not a bad thing. A rookie needs to make some mistakes in the Preseason, so he can learn and grow, when it doesn't count in the standings. A young QB can build on the good plays. He can also go back and watch the video of the mistakes. Break'm down. Get an understanding of why he made that mistake. That can be a positive experience too. Matt can say, "I'm not throwing it in there anymore, without knowing where that inside backer is.
Stafford is the starter, even though nothing has been stated publicly. What the Lions found out Saturday is that Matt is quickly becoming the guy. He's getting coached up and look for him to be the starter by week 2.
Good news from Athens. They don't have a bunch of guys getting hurt, even though they've been going at it hard. Caleb's hamstring is an issue, but Samuel has picked up the slack. Carlton Thomas is a nice change-up guy. Slip him in there, throw him a screen pass, get him out in the route in the flat or on a crossing route. Don't believe he's a guy that can carry a large load yet. Encouraging news is the solid play of the #1 O-Line. Cox is loving this. The next step is finding a couple more play-makers. They need to emerge over the next couple of weeks. Freshman like Brown and Charles are getting a grip on the playbook. As they get more comfortable with their play assigments, the play-making ability will start to show up.
Another piece of good news is how the #1 D-Line is dominating the #2 O-Line. Rod Battle looks like he's back to making an impact at DE. That's critical. Freshman DE Montez Robinson is coming on strong and looks like he may earn some P.T. Probably good that Bacarri Rambo is getting some reps at safety with the #1's too. The depth at DE and DB looks good.
