'Dogs Secondary Faces Huge Test

Coach Gundy is a man and he's now 42. He's also gameplanning for Georgia's defense at this very moment. His mission is to give QB Zac Robinson plenty of good plays. And to provide WR Dez Bryant with multiple big-play opportunities. And to get RB Kendall Hunter 20 touches, with a heavy dose of carries behind All-American OT Russell Okung. Make no mistake, Coach Gundy wants to run the football more this season.
But he wants to throw it around too. He's got the QB to do it. And Bryant is a special talent on the other end. Georgia's secondary will have their hands full in this one. They will have to help in run support and they need to be on alert for 4 quarters...ready to defend the Cowboys big play shots. Gundy hopes the Bulldog safeties will be overly aggresive helping stop the run and that's when he will go up top.
Obviously, giving up the big play in this game would be devestating.
Coach Martinez will likely come out playing mostly zone. Drop into coverage...read and react. And hit the receiver after the catch. Make the WR pay for the reception. Bully'm around. Intimidate them. Get in their head. Come in here and catch it...and you're going to get hit hard. Sounds like a game Rambo could enjoy. Curran can't wait to lay someone out.
Play man-to-man and you not only have to worry about Bryant working on two undersized CBs in Miller and Boykin, but Willie has to also concern himslf with Zac Robinson scrambling and making big plays in big situations. Guess Coach Martinez could use that "Spy" plan, but that might not be possible with all the other weapons OSU has on offense. Jump in a heavy dose of man-to-man, and Robinson might rip you apart with big plays scrambling. An experienced QB can easily detect man coverage after the snap of the ball...and a guy like Zac probably like to see that look, because he's got a match-up advantage with Dez Bryant and he knows he can hurt'm by running with it.
VanGorder and Martinez both are more comfortable playing zone. The bend but don't break scheme. Dare an offense to put together 10-12 play drives. Again, keep the receiver underneath the umbrella and come up and hit him hard. That's been the plan. And they both like to change it up later in the game. Switch to an underneath man coverage (Cover 2 man, Cover 1) on a big 3rd down play, looking for a big interception.
Prince Miller has been in some wars. I don't worry about him. It's the unknown that bothers me. Is Boykin a big game player? Can Cuff make plays? Does Commings know where to be and what to do? Jones and Evans are experienced, but can Rambo play big?
It's almost time to make plays in Stillwater. Are these 'Dogs ready for the challenge? We're about to find out.

If UGA can contain the run without extra help from the safety in this game we will dominate unless of of course they pass all over us. I don't see that happening if we know we can contain the run then everyone else in the secondary can concentrate on their individual jobs. I say dawgs roll 31-23
