Puppies Not Ready For Prime-Time
There were 6 plays in the game that were the difference in winning and losing. Five of those plays were the result of young guys not making plays. Allow me to point these out.
1- Bryan Evans gets beat inside on Cover 2. The result: Dez Bryant TD reception.
2- Reshirt freshman Carlton Thomas fumble. The result: 3 points for Cowboys.
3- Kick-off cover team (full of puppies) allows 74 yard return to start 2nd half. The result: 7 points for Cowboys.
4- Freshman Orson Charles drops 3rd and 5 pass.
5- Sophomore Ben Jones doesn't pick up stunt and Joe Cox gets sacked and fumbles.
6- Redshirt freshman Sanders Commings over runs a slant route at the goal-line. The result of 4-5-6: 7 points for Cowboys.
Also, I thought the O-Line wasn't real physical. Wonder if Searels is considering moving Chris Davis to center full-time, inserting Justin Anderson at OG, and moving Jones to 2nd team? They need to get bigger and more physical. Davis and Jones don't look real strong next to each other.
Some of the blame should be pointed at Justin Houston and Bruce Figgins too. Their suspensions hurt the 'Dogs bad. In response to that, they had to play 2 freshman at TE and move Geno Atkins to DE.
Cox and Samuel were good enough to win. Green needed to come up with a couple of balls that fell to the turf. But the 'Dogs offense was counting on too many freshman/redshirt freshmen/ 'Dogs getting first playing time...to go on the road and beat a Top 10 team.
And one more thing: I thought Oklahoma State's defense under Bill Young was much-improved.
