Successful Trip to Nashville
Missed seeing you at the Vanderbilt Homecoming. You might have been mad at the Georgia coaching staff and players. Didn't want to make the trip up and back? I've always thought the trip to Nashville was fun. Great town. Lot to do. Plus. Georgia normally wins.
Couple of guys stepped up big. Geno Atkins dominated his match-up and just made life miserable for the Vanderbilt offense. He was unblockable. Blowing up plays left and right. Guess he got tired of playing second-fiddle to Owens and Weston. Or maybe Garner lit a fuse under him. Anyway, Geno is back!
Rashad Jones also played at a high level. Had a bunch of tackles. Showed his ball skills with that interception, where he recognized and jumped a route to pick it off. Evans play has slipped, but Rashad has elevated. Against Vanderbilt he played fast. If i had a game ball I give one to Geno and Rashad.
Curran was his normal self. Sticking his nose in there for 4 quarters.
Boykin and Prince Miller are playing good football at CB. And Branden Smith is coming on fast too. Coach Martinez had'm playing some tight coverage against the Commodores and they liked it. Losing Asher Allen hurt this defense early in the season, but now things are looking up.
The pass rush is getting some pressure and the coverage is getting tighter. By the way, next season Boykin, Smith and Commings look pretty solid at the CB spot.
The offense: I liked Bobo down on the sideline. It can get lonely up in the press box. Hope he stays down there on the field. Caleb King got his 1st 2 TDs at Georgia. He had a big smile on his face in Nashville. He ws waited patiently for good things to happen...hoefully this will jump-start him. A.J. Green is just special....just ask Myron Lewis. Thought Cox played good too. Some will lok at the stat sheet and assume he was barely average, but I disagree. Joe had 3-4 drops. He threw away 2-3 balls. Orson should have made a play on that deep-ball and prevented the INTC.
All in all, it was a good trip.
