Can the Dawgs Block'm?
Georgia's biggest concern is this match-up with Florida is finding a way to get these guys blocked. Otherwise, it's going to be another long afternoon in Jacksonville. If you can't block'm...you can't run it and you can't throw it. That's trouble.
Coach Searels is playing musical chairs on the O-Line trying to find a combination that works. Boling at left tackle would have him matched up on the Gators best DL in Carlos Dunlap, who's looking like a #1 draft pick. Boling is Georgia's most athletic OL. This should be a good fight. If Cordy Glenn is at left guard, then he's matched up on Omar Hunter...that's a really compelling battle. Both were highly rated recruits in 2008. Glenn, from Riverdale, was Georgia bound all the way. Hunter, from Buford, fell for Florida and never turned back. Who's the better man now? Stay tuned.
On the right side, it could be Vince Vance at right tackle. He would be getting Jermaine Cunningham. Advantage Florida. At right guard, Chris Davis and/or Justin Anderson get Terron Sanders and Jay Howard. Ben Jones is stuck in the middle helping out. This right side of the 'Dogs O-Line somehow has to rise up and hold their own.
Chapas and Munzenmaier have their hands full this week. They get to take on Gators LBs Ryan Stamper and Brandon Spikes. Buckle the chin strap on tight. This is another tough match-up. Spikes rested during the bye and took last Saturday off. NFL scouts have him as a 1st round pick too.
Bobo will have to coach around the fact that Georgia's offense doesn't have a blocking tight-end. Aron White and Orson Charles are better receivers than blockers. Again, the Figgins suspension hurt this offense and the run game.
Charlie Strong might feel pretty good about Joe Haden (another 1st round pick) matching up against A.J. Green...and that could turn the safeties loose to get after the Georgia running game. Hill, Black, and Wright are all solid safeties.
Can Georgia block'm? That is the BIG QUESTION.
