Encouraging Performance By 'Dogs
Let me go ahead and say it: Georgia's opponent was Tennessee Tech. But there were some encouraging performances, in the 38-0 victory.
The defense had seven "3 & Outs." All four of their first quarter possession's were 3 & out punts. Martinez played 26-30 players. You may have caught a glimpse of the DE's of the future...true freshman Montez Robinson & redshirt freshman Cornelius Washington took advantage of the playing time and had some fun. Montez had 5 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2.5 tackles for loss. Cornelius had 2 tackles, a sack and a TFL. They are still puppies right now, but I'd bet they both will be getting big playing time in 2010 and beyond. They both look like big-time players.
The offense attacked with the running game and rushed for over 300 yards. Ealey continues to shine. He had 7 carries for 89 yards and galloped for a long TD. I like this kid's competitive spirit. He's a freshman, but there is no back-down from him. He's coming to win. Joe Cox was sharp and hit his first 10 passes. The 'Dogs offense scored on their first 4 possessions. Logan Gray got some playing time and is still getting comfortable. His INTC was a poor decision and the ball floated on him.
I was totally impressed by the crowd. Wow. There are a lot of loyal Georgia fans and they all showed up. That was awesome. I'm sure Coach Richt and the players appreciated it.
Now, here comes Auburn.
