Bulldogs Face Auburn Tigers

There are some things to like about this Auburn team. And there are some things not to like about the Tigers. Gene Chizik is a good football coach. Let me start there. He's sort of old school-new school. Old school in that he believes in tough football. New school in that he also has updated that offense...and he has that limo thing working in recruiting.
Auburn has that veteran advantage up front, where they are experienced and physical. It sort of goes hand in hand. Upperclassmen on the line of scrimmage are strong because they have been in the strength program for 4 years. They've had 4 years to physically mature. The Tigers line up on Saturday with 3 Seniors and 6 Juniors starting on the L-Line and D-Line. I like that. No snot-nosed freshmen or sophomores out there. They are mean and they are tough.
The Tigers have also taken a huge step forward on offense, by finding some playmakers. That has been a major weakness in the last couple of seasons. This season that hasn't been a problem. Auburn has 51 plays over 20 yards (they had 39 last season). The Tigers have 14 plays over 40 yards (they had 5 last season). This is a huge step forward.
Now to the negative. Or the weaknesses.
Auburn is a different team on the road. The Tiger defense is allowing 32 points a game on the road. Arkansas got 44. LSU got 31. Tennessee was the one solid effort (Vols scored 22). Coach Ted Roof needs a better performance out of his guys at Sanford Stadium, especially against the run. Auburn is allowing 4.4 yards per carry and 169 yards a game.
You may have noticed that Georgia's run game is now legitimate, with Ealey carrying the ball and Boling and Glenn opening up holes on that left side. If Auburn has to gang up to stop it, the 'Dogs will be able to hit some big plays in the passing game.
