Braves Ready To Go Shopping

Frank Wren and Bobby Cox are ready to go shopping. The doors open for offering free agents midnight tomorrow (Friday). But they probably won't be as aggressive as the ladies hitting the malls later next week. Get out of their way! Frank and Bobby will be a little more patient.
At the top of the Braves shopping list? Arms for the backend of the bullpen and a 1st baseman.
Soriano is gone. Gonzalez is probably out too. Greener pastures. Big money and multi-year deals. Braves will offer them arbitration and get that 1st round pick, when they sign elsewhere. Sure wish Gonzo would stick around, but he has Boras repping him now. One name that jumps out at me is Kevin Gregg. The Cubs will be cutting him loose to FA and he's affortable and seemingly a good fit. He's saved 84 games the last 3 years. Major League hitters have hit .212 against him the last 3 seasons. The lefty help is more complicated. Wagner? Probably not.
As far as 1st base goes, Adam LaRoche will probably get a multi-year offer. Braves probably want to offer him a 1-year contract. Prospect Freddie Freeman is probably a year away. Wren hasn't asked yet, but why not sign LaRoche to a multi-year deal and trade him, when Freeman is ready? Just saying.
No corner OF? Well, those bangers are expensive (Holiday, Bay, Ordonez). Now if the Cardinals want to give us Ryan Ludwick...right, why would they do that. Plus, Jason Heyward will have a shot to win the job in the spring. Just wait until you see this kid swing the bat...reminds me of a young McCovey. The ball just jumps off his bat. And he's a young man of high character.
Get ready. The curtain falls at midnight Friday.
