Not Giving Up on Zach

Zach Mettenberger will not be the starting QB, when the 'Dogs hit the field September 4th against Louisiana-Lafayette. He'll be serving a 1-game suspension. But that doesn't mean he's out of the competition. He can still earn the job. Obviously, he's not the first guy to get in trouble.
Zach can recover. He can bounce back. The path to capturing the job has become more difficult, but he has time to prove himself.
Right now, he's got to be better than Gray or Murray. Throw it bettter than those guys. Run the offense better than those guys. And he's got to earn the trust of the upperclassmen. That might start with an apology and a promise to not embarrass the team like that again. This is no time to step back on the practice field. It's time to take charge of the huddle, when his turn comes up.
It's simple really. Learn from the mistake and move on. Take the punishment, but don't give in. Stay strong and committed.
Maybe Logan and Aaron struggle, or get dinged up. Zach's doesn't know when his opportunity might come, but he's got to get ready. And there will be a lot of people doubting him, because of that one bad night in Remerton. But worrying about that is a waste of time. Richt and Bobo certainly haven't given up on him. The fans shouldn't either.
