Bulldog QB Competition Continues
The 2nd scrimmage was critiqued closely by Mike Bobo this Easter Weekend. He was busy watching the performances of his 3 quarterbacks. Most of this is hush-hush right now. A closely guarded situation. Coach Richt is doing the smart thing in giving them all reps and letting this play out.
Aaron Murray appears to have the inside track on the job first. He's put together 2 solid scrimmages...completed 67% of his passes, thrown for 2 scores and has had 2 picked off. He exudes a confidence that the other guys pick up on. He needs a good G-Day to get to the top of the depth chart heading to the summer. It's not secure until he helps beat South Carolina in Columbia.
Zach Mettenberger really is much-improved from this time last year. After 2 scrimmages, he's completing 65%, and has 3 TD to 1 interception. Yes, he does have that 1-game suspension hanging over his head. He may not beat out Murray this spring, but he is proving he can play. He's pushing Aaron, and that's a positive. Looks like the 'Dogs have 2 QBs who can help'm win.
Logan Gray had a better 2nd scrimmage. He completed 7-11 throws and hit a TD. He must realize that the two redshirt freshmen have passed him by. That's got to be tough to take, after all the hard work he's put into this dream of his to play QB at Georgia. Fight through G-Day is probably the plan. Logan is the best-athlete of the 3 guys, but that doesn't always transition over to QB.
