Bobo's 2010 Bulldog Offense

What a relief to have the O-Line position a strength, instead of a weakness. And if Matt Stinchcomb calls this the best OL since 2002, well that's good enough for me. Richt admitted this week that several of these starters (Chris Davis, Ben Jones, Josh Davis) played as puppies, when they should have been watching. I spoke of that 2 years ago. Now this group is battle-tested and all grown up. The last 6 games of that 8-5 season a year ago tells the story...'Dogs offense rolled up an average of over 200 yards a game rushing. And they did that without physical tight-end play. Add that to the mix this season.
That is encouraging. Ealey and King should break out in a gallop a lot this season.
But this group can't survive against the best teams being one-dimensional. And the passing game can't be just throwing to the ultra-talented A.J. Green either. DC's are game-planning to limit Green's impact. Although, A.J. should get some big-play opportunities off the play-action pass.
The secondary receiver play will be critical. Kris Durham needs to "Rise Up"...oh wait, that's the Falcons catch phrase this year. If Kris can deliver, the 'Dogs offense will benefit. He's dependable, a big target, and has some ball skills. But can he stay on the field? Injuries have haunted him. Durham's impact will be huge. Tavarres King is a big question mark. Kid has the talent, but can he put it together? And can Marlon Brown emerge? The receiver lined up opposite A.J. needs to play ball, because playmaking opportunities will be there.
Wooten and Thomas are quick, shifty dudes that can be effective working underneath coverage. That adds another dimension to the offense. Logan Gray fits here too. If defenses want to take away the receivers downfield, Murray should be able to find these guys by checking down.
I just love the mix at tight end! Two physical blockers: Figgins & Lynch. Two talented ball catchers: Charles & White. Look for Coach Bobo to utilize a lot of 2-TE sets.
And Aaron Murray? Once he gets comfortable, he has a lot of weapons to spread the ball around too. And should get plenty of protection up front.
