Washaun Ealey A Bad Driver
Caleb King is probably thinking his workload just doubled, because Washaun Ealey's poor judgement. Ealey spent some time in the poky this morning, after ramming into a parked truck in the East Campus parking deck, and then leaving the scene. Probably because he had a suspended license. Bad move. Security observed the collision, police ran the plates, and went to find the car owner, which led to Ealey. He was in a teammates car. And I don't need to ask if he was out visiting a lady friend, before he ran into the truck.
Couple of things. Ealey must not be a very good driver. And he was wrong to leave obviously. Alcohol and drugs were not involved reportedly. Guess we'll find out more when the police report goes public, but don't think Richt will suspend him for more than 1-2 games. Misdemeanor, right? A strong message would be out for South Carolina.
The school takes a hit publicly. The team loses a horse for a period of time. Washaun loses a clean reputation. But no one got hurt. Some will call for his head on a platter, but this too shall pass.
Caleb King was called the starter after practice on Thursday. So now his work load goes up. He can handle it. In his last 3 games last season, Caleb got 18, 18 & 16 carries to finish off the year. Caleb arrived at Georgia with a ton of high school carries. Don't think 20-plus carries is going to intimidate him. It's time for him to take over at Georgia.
Carlton Thomas is more of a "out in space" back. Screen passes. Edge runs. Check down receptions. That's his skill set.
Freshman Ken Malcome, out of Atlanta's SW Dekalb HS, fits what the 'Dogs want to do this season. He's a banger. A YAC guy (yards after carry). I'd look for him to get a few carries in the exibition opener, in order to see where he's at. He appears to be a better alternative than Carlton, as far as the back-up RB goes.
Expect to see FB Fred Munzenmaier get some P.T. at RB now too. He's a physical runner. Bet he'll get a look now.
Ealey should be back in the fold soon, unless something else shows up. But until then, the 'Dogs and Coach Bobo are going to be feeding Caleb King.
