Justin Houston Leaves For NFL
The 'Dogs lose A.J. Green and Justin Houston early. That hurts. Best two players on each side of the ball. But consider this: 'Dogs were 6-7 with them.
Certainly understand Houston saying that it was a tough decision, but this is the best decision for his family. Sounds like a money thing. Justin can take care of his family, by going now. Who can blame him for that? He's given Georgia several good years. I wish him well.
He's projected as a late 1st round/early 2nd round pick right now. Kiper, Jr. does not currently have him on his Big Board (Top 32 Rated Players). Scouts, Inc has him rated as the 3rd best OLB prospect and #26 on the board. One thing is for sure: NFL teams put a premium on guys that can rush the passer, and Houston can rush the passer.
But I question his ability to play out in space at OLB. That part of his game still needs polishing up. Another season at Georgia would have helped him develop these skills. Allowed him to become more comfortable in pass coverage. No question he can run and chase at the next level. But can he be a 3-down player? And I also wonder about him---at 254---going up against the huge OTs in the NFL, when he puts his hand on the ground and rushes the passer?
