Accountability Back At Georgia
Things have changed on Richt's watch. New DC. New strength program. Players are being asked to document reps in the weightroom. A photo is required at all 3 meals. Coaches are being asked to push hard in the final weeks of recruiting, with the focus being to lock-down the top-rated players in the state. Richt has pulled off organizational meetings and Bulldog Club gatherings. His focus is strictly on football.
Go 'Dogs, sic'm! I like all of these changes.
After locking down Drew, Jenkins and Crowell next week, it'll be time to hire a new O-Line coach. Let's be real here. Don't believe some hot-shot guy wants the job, because of Richt's short lease. Seriously doubt McGarity is going to hand out a multi-year contract right now. So, the timing is going to have to be right.
For example, Mac McWhorter is available and has Georgia ties. And he's also regarded as one of the top OL coaches in CF. Go get him. The timing is right. Come on, he's not really retired. This would be his 3rd time coaching the Georgia OL.
Hugh Nall is probably not interested because it's jumping back in, with a 1-year commitment. And he'd be leaving a secure and profitable job out of football.
Caldwell? Hire another Vanderbilt coach? Selfo? He's now got another year of coaching Tony Gonzalez. Greg Adkins? I respect him, plus he's got RC experience too. These 3 men are all A-List Guys. Guess you can't really go wrong. If it were me...if Nall turned me down, I'd be knocking on McWhorter's door.
