Crowell Comes to Georgia!

Isaiah's big announcement came down a little after 1:30 Wednesday in Columbus. And it's a big one for the Bulldogs. Alabama can get by without Crowell the next couple of years, because they're already deep at the RB position. Georgia needs an impact RB, right now.
I'd imagine Isaiah and his family have been over this a hundred times.
Alabama's program is in better shape than Georgia right now.  But the depth chart at Bama (Richardson & Lacy) is top-heavy. He's got to wait in Tuscaloosa. He can play now at Georgia. Plus, the comfort factor favors Georgia. Isaiah has some of the Carver High family playing in Athens. He knows no one at Alabama. And that probably tips the scales over to Georgia. Most of the time, it's important. Not many 17 year olds want to go somewhere, where they know no one. The fact that Jarvis Jones is already on campus and his best buddy is coming in, as a freshman is huge.
I'd bet that Washaun Ealey is busting his butt in the strength program. He's trying to solidify his status as the #1 RB. Plus, he knows this hot-shot freshmen may be coming in to take his playing time. No junior is going to take that lightly. And make no mistake, Ealey needs to be the #1 RB, especially early in the season.
Caleb King's status is up in the air. He was ineligible for the bowl game. Can't count on him, right?
Carlton Thomas is a situational back to me. A change-up. A guy who needs the ball in space to be effective.
Ken Malcome will get a good look in the spring. He's off a redshirt season. It'll be interesting to see how he fits. Could he be a fullback?
The guess here is that young McClendon is told Isaiah that he can come in and play immediately. Compete for the #1 job with Ealey. Earn playing time. Get touches against Boise State and South Carolina. Bryan and Bobo have talked about a "Crowell Package"...which includes carries and receptions. Did I mention how good Crowell is as a receiver? Soft hands, elusive and explosive. Watching him on tape and seeing him in the Army All-American Game tells me he's capable of making an impact at Georgia this season. But the best-case scenario is this: The 'Dogs have a 1-2 punch at RB, with Ealey the starter and Crowell carrying a big load as the #2.
