Who Makes Impact on Offense?
Isaiah Crowell steps in and plays immediately. He has been blessed with playmaking ability in open space. And that's a characteristic the Bulldogs offense needs in 2011. A.J. Green has exited. Bobo is looking for players to fill that void. Ealey returns as the starter, but the 'Dogs need more. Crowell catching a screen pass, or out on the edge on a sweep...those are the type things he could do against Boise State. Sure hope young McClendon has driven that point home to the young man. The 'Dogs need Crowell.
Jay Rome has a chance to earn some time at TE. With White, Lynch and Figgins in place, it doesn't appear playing time will be an easy thing to get. But I see Charles flexing out and becoming more of a receiver. White is more of a receiver. If Bobo goes 2-TEs in a power running set, Rome and Lynch could be the two TEs.
Malcolm Mitchell has a shot to return some kicks as a freshman. He could also earn some opportunities at WR too. In fact, Scott-Wesley and Conley could push for time as back-ups too. A lot of this depends on what Brown, Wooten, Gray, Troupe and Bennett do. Tav King is the only sure thing at WR right now.
The right side of the O-Line has to be constructed. Gates lines up at right guard. The big hole is at right tackle. Might have to move Glenn over there. But it's a stretch to think one of these freshmen will show up and claim the starting job at RT. It's such a physical game up front, it's real hard for a freshman to be ready. Danzler, DeBell, Ward and maybe Henderson are most likely making an impact in 2012.
So, much like the defense...the offense is probably looking at only 1-2 freshmen getting playing time in 2011. Crowell & Drew look like the only guys that are ready to make an immediate impact.
