Grantham Gets Boost With Big Jenkins

The Bulldogs apparently got the big DT Grantham's 3-4 scheme desperately needed. A big dude in the middle, who can occupy the center AND guard. Clog up the A-gap. Get a push up the middle. And allow the inside LBs to stay clean, so they can run and hit.
This was missing last season. DeAngelo Tyson is a 3-4 DE, not a nose. Now hopefully, Tyson can slide out and play physical. So, this signing impacts two spots on the D-Line.
Is he Cody? Or Fairley? We'll see. He must be a player if Richt, Muschamp, Golden and Chizik were hot on his trail. They all jumped in late and pushed hard to get him. But he made a connection with Richt. And Ray Drew convinced him that this "Dream Team" this was for real.
Grantham believes John Jenkins was the "missing link." And now, he's got him on board. The Bulldogs last signing of this recruiting class was the biggest...Jenkins is reportedly 340 pounds. And it may turn out to be the most important. Jenkins is the new starter at nose. Plug him in. He's not some freshmen. He's battle-tested, coming out of JUCO.
Drew and Crowell probably make an impact this coming season. But Jenkins is in a position to make the biggest impact. Welcome aboard, big fella.
