Changes in Personnel

Been waiting on this. The staff has been discussing potential personnel moves that could improve the team, heading into spring football practice. And to make these position switches, the player has to be consulted too. These are two parts to the process. Now the word is out.
Alec Ogletree has moved to inside linebacker. Cordy Glenn has moved to right tackle. Jarvis Jones will be an outside linebacker. Bruce Figgins is now a fullback. DeAngelo Tyson slides out to DE. Justin Anderson is back on the OL at guard.
The O-Line situation was a big concern. The right side graduated. There were no upperclassmen ready to step in. So, big moves needed to be made. Cordy Glenn fills the void at right tackle. The last couple of years, Cordy was playing at a high level inside. And I'd bet he has the athleticism to move outside and be solid. And make no mistake about it, no one else was ready to line up at that spot. Good move by the staff to turn to Cordy with this challenge. He can do it.
Justin Anderson now gets a shot to earn one of the guard spots. Hope he realizes the team needs him to be a starter. And as a senior, this is his last shot to play. He hasn't gotten on the field much. Time to play ball.
Gates got a few starts at guard last season as a freshman. Kenarious can claim one of this year's guard spots, with a solid spring.
Little surprised with Ogletree moving to inside linebacker. He arrived on campus at 205. But he's blown up some since then. Last season late, Grantham had him playing up in the box from his safety position, defending the run. He'll be doing a lot of that now. His speed at safety was sort of average. But now, it'll be above average at LB. That's a plus. Alec will be chasing down a lot of backs. Wonder about when they come right at him? Downhill, power running...how tough will he be against that style? Grantham was quoted as saying he'll be a "unique" player at ILB. Sure will help having big old John Jenkins in front of him.
So, Jarvis Jones will be playing OLB. High expectations here. For this defense to shine, they need this guy to be special. A difference-maker. An All-SEC LB. Turn him loose.
