Big Blow Losing Sturdivant
This is an injury that could cripple the 2011 'Dogs Offense. Senior OT Trinton Sturdivant injured his right knee in the scrimmage on Saturday and is lost for the season. Other than losing QB Aaron Murray, I'm not sure if there could have been a more damaging loss.
Next man up? Well, not sure exactly who that is. Doesn't appear to be anyone ready to step in at OT and play a winning brand of football. Too many puppies. One might say this position has been mismanaged the last 2-3 years. Zero depth.
Potential RT's would be junior A.J. Harmon, who has not earned much playing time prior to this opportunity and soph. Austin Long, who has been hanging with the "walking wounded" since he arrived on campus. Kolton Houston is also a redshirt freshman who is listed as an OT this spring.
Incoming freshmen aren't really candidates, unless this becomes an emergency situation. Danzler, DeBell and Ward were heading towards a redshirt season.
Searels got out just in time.
Sturdivant has been through hell and back at Georgia. This is his 3rd major knee injury. I feel for the young man. It just doesn't seem fair.
Richt should have moved Geathers, while he had the chance. Now that's too late. Not sure what they will do now, except give Harmon, Long and Houston a shot. And those 3 guys are a longshot to get the job done. Does Nat Hudson or Matt Stinchcomb have any eligibility left?
