Opportunity Knocks at OT

Sturdivant's right knee won't allow him to line up in 2011. Tough break for Trinton & the Bulldogs. But is it time to cancel the season? Well, no. But no one in the SEC is feeling sorry for Georgia today.
Who will replace Sturdivant at RT? A.J. Harmon is the next guy up. He's been in the program for 3 years, since signing out of Jefferson County HS. The last 2 seasons Harmon has played in 7 games. I'd say its time for A.J. Harmon to step up and play some ball. The team needs him now more than ever before. Sure hope he takes advantage of this opportunity. At 6'5", 320 lbs., he should be able to hold up physically. And he'll get first shot at the job.
Justin Anderson moves outside from guard to tackle to compete with Harmon. "Bean" is 6'5", 326 pounds and is a senior. In his first season on campus back in 2009, Anderson was listed as the back-up RT, at the end of spring practice. He's now come full circle. Go get'm Justin.
Both of these guys were top OL prospects leaving HS. And both are key players now. The Bulldogs need them to step up.
As far as the young 'Dogs go, Brent Benedict arrived at Georgia as a highly-recruited OT prospect, but he's not fully recovered from major knee surgery leaving high school. Austin Long has had back surgery and is injured right now and not practicing.
It's a shame Sturdivant is dealing with another setback. And it's tough that his injury happens at the end of spring practice. The replacement sure could have used 10-14 practices at RT. Guess the new OT will have to work overtime this summer, when practice starts.
We'll get a sneak peak at RT Saturday at Sanford Stadium.
