Is Caleb Going To Make It?
Best I can tell, Caleb King is going to make it. Obviously, there is a lot of buzz out there about his eligibility. So, let's read between the lines, shall we?
Question: Why would Coach Richt be bragging on Caleb at the Greenville Bulldog Club this week, if he was going to be ineligible? Doesn't make good sense. Richt praised Caleb's work ethic. Talked about his big-time ability. Sounds to me like Coach Richt is counting on Caleb this fall.
Must have some info we don't have.
But with Ealey out, the 'Dogs are thin at RB. Better hit the recruiting trail hard. Beat the bushes. Find a couple of guys that want to play for the 'Dogs. Right now, college coaches are out there working the seniors-to-be and making offers.
Not a great year in Georgia, as far as the RB position goes. Plus, young McClendon and the other coaches are going to have to deal with "negative" recruiting. Other staff's will be mentioning that the 'Dogs just signed Crowell, so "why would you go there and ride the pine."
Hillgrove's Kenyan Drake has a verbal to Alabama. Stephenson's Mike Davis has committed to Florida. That leaves 2 uncommitted RB prospects: Sandy Creek's Mike Hilton and Brookwood's Nick Tompkins. Both are getting hit hard. I believe the 'Dogs have jumped in with Tompkins. He's already got a good relationship with Paul Johnson. Virginia, Duke, Clemson, BC, MIssissippi State, Penn State, Michigan State and Ole MIss are already on him. So, there is work to do here.
Anyway, sounds like Caleb will make it.
