How Does This Happen?
Buford High LB Dillon Lee announced yesterday that he is going to Alabama to play college football. Both FSU and Georgia were disappointed to hear the news. The Seminoles were in on him hard. Sounds like Georgia got in late.
Georgia got in on him late? How could that be? Dillon's brother Dallas is already on the Georgia team. Late? This young man is one of the state's top prospects. Yet Georgia was one of the last of 20 program's to offer? There are times that I just don't get it.
I understand the part about the 'Dogs hiring a new LB coach, in Kirk Olivadotti. But doesn't Grantham coach the LBs too? There must be a reason for lagging behind in the process, besides hiring a new LB coach, but we aren't in on those staff meetings. Maybe Garner didn't have him rated as highly as Bama or FSU. I don't know, but this just looks bad.
Surely there is a reasonable explanation.

That's because Garner sucks and Richt doesn't control the recruiting process which is a huge problem!

Buck,
I understand some of the fan base saying, why are we so late on this guy? It is not the first time we have heard this.
Now I pose another question for you to ponder. It is a known fact we have very limited scholarship numbers for this coming year. Do you think, that just maybe Georgia has a couple of other Line Backers higher on their recruiting board than Dillon Lee?
This is only my opinion, but I think the offer to Dillon was just a gratitude offer because his brother Dallas plays with us. Yes, ALabama, Florida State, and a few other schools liked him enough to offer, but that does not necessarily means he fits into the mold of the system that Grantham is trying to install. This kid has not even started his senior year yet, so I don't think we were "late" anyway. If we had not offered and it was half way through his senior year, then yes, I could see using the word "late"
I am worried we are recruiting a few to many line backers and i think our coaching staff is happy with what we have coming in from last year, and only want to offer the cream of the crop this year because numbers are limited, and we need wide receivers and offensive linemen (OT's) bad.

Buck, you always talk about the "lunatic fringe" and then you put out this garbage to feed the monster. This post just serves to propagate uninformed knee-jerk reactions from casual fans who trust you to provide "insider" information.
Before putting things like this out, please put forth some minimal effort to get the real story. Clearly, UGA was not "late" with Lee. Other targets were simply higher priority, and UGA's process regarding issuing scholarships does not lend itself to handing out scholarships without fully intending to honor it for 4 years.
This kid has yet to play his senior year in high school and somehow UGA's scholarship was too late. That simply makes no sense.
I wish Dillon well in Tuscaloosa; I just pray he doesn't fall victim to the tactics that allow teams like Alabama to issue these "early" scholarship offers to multitudes of kids.

Come on Buck, you know full well that recruiting a kid just because his brother plays at your school isn't the way to go. Most likely, the younger Lee wasn't rated incredibly high by the staff. Maybe Belin wasn't enamored with him. You never know.

I'm a little puzzled,too,Buck...I wish the staff showed 'Dream Team' urgency all the time...Nick Saban and staff just keep having top 5 (or better)recruiting classes...those Alabama guys amaze me...they almost get anybody they go after...
