Bulldogs Running Back Scenario
Richard Samuel looks like the starter against Boise State. He can help protect Aaron Murray. That's probably the most important thing too. Be physical in pass protection. And hold onto the ball. The guess here says he will run tough.
Ken Malcome could earn some short yardage/goal line carries. This would take some of the heat off Samuel.
And Isaiah Crowell could then flourish in a playmaking role. Coach Bobo could get him comfortable with a package of plays, which utilize his strengths. Get him the ball in space, where he can make people miss. Toss sweep. Misdirection. Underneath passing game. Screen pass.
I know that a portion of the Bulldog Nation is expecting big things from Isaiah. Immediately. But I believe that's expecting too much. All this talk about him "getting the 1st carry against Boise State" is a little crazy. Let's see if he can make it through "1-a-days" first.
Not trying to be Coach Belue when I say this, but it's true...these 3 guys have to focus on holding on to the ball to start the season. Can't be laying it on the floor against Boise and Carolina and expect to beat them.
And the next important thing is Samuel in pass pro.

Buck-
Samuel can have a strong year and could average 4.8 a carry like Lattimore. I think Samuel got 4.5 yards a carry 2 years ago. Backs had a bunch of fumbles on GDay and yes, the red zone fumbles cost us a few games last year, backs fumble issues need to be solved. Good ideas on how to use Crowell, Malcome, and play to their strengths.
