Throw It Against Boise State
The Boise State D-Line is expected to be among the best in CF. McClellin & Winn are supposed to be tough. And you know the Broncos defensive staff is focused on being physical against the 'Dogs running game.
So, let's have Aaron Murray throw it 30-40 times. Let me give you some good reasons why. Question: Who do you trust on the Georgia offense? Murray, right? So, let's put the ball in his hands.
Aaron proved in his rookie season that he can be accurate, make good decisions and protect the football. I sure respect those 3 qualities, going into a big-time showdown like this. Samuel has had some fumble issues. Crowell doesn't strike me as a 25-carry dude, yet. Let's throw it.
Protection is huge in this game. And I like Georgia's chances of protecting Murray, because of Bruce Figgins (260) and Richard Samuel (240). Sure like the protection where those two guys have protection responsibility. One can help Anderson on the edge and the other can pick up the blitzing LB. The O-Line (Glenn, Gates, Jones, Burnette, Anderson) is big and looks capable of providing a pocket.
Murray has some weapons too. Orson is poised for a monster season. "TK" has a little playmaker in him. Marlon is a big target. Wooten can be a factor. Crowell is an excellent receiver. Aaron White can go get it. Malcolm Mitchell might be ready to play ball too.
I'm not saying we need to throw it 50 times, like Boise likes to do. But what I am saying is to lead with our strength. And that's our QB Aaron Murray. This game is huge. And #11 gives us our best shot of winning it.
Coach Bobo is a smart man. He will mix it up, but I'd be willing to bet he is ready to attack with the passing game.

While I agree it will take SOME throwing to beat them, I remember Hawaii putting 8 and even 9 in the box to stop us and still couldnt.
If Boise does this, and we are successful running, I say keep that offense of theirs off the field.
Although, I think we have some weapons at WR and can throw it whenEVER we want, if we establish the run. Lets throw it cause we want to, not cause Boise MAKES us.
Good article. Go Dawgs

Buck,
Good analysis. Strength of offense is Murray & WR's & TE's, weakness of defense are DB's. I'd say pass to set up run like Bama did to Florida in an SEC Championship and surprise by coming off firing the pass in formations & downs that look like run. Gamble early like Saban did in National Championship, because even if it doesn't work, you have time to make up for mistakes. Play to win. Keeping 2 backs in to block is another good idea. A short passing game, ball control offense, opens up the run. I'd add, need to be solid on 3rd down conversions to keep Moore on the bench and score TD's in the Red Zone instead of field goals as Boise can score some points.

Perhaps throwing is the best plan. However, I see the pass setting up the run. I suspect Samuel is much improved and more physical than before. I think the added weight and confidence gained through maturity will translate to lots of yards after contact. And I expect Crowell to break a few. Here's the grim truth about the Boise game. We out-talent them. If we don't beat them, this will be, perhaps, a terminal indictment of the coaching staff.
