Not Ready For Top 5 Match-up

Obviously, we've slipped. But we already knew that.
Again, Georgia got beat up front, on the LOS. Glenn lost his battle to McClellin, who had 7 tackles, plus 2.5 sacks. DeAngelo Tyson got beat by Nate Potter. Those were 2 important individual match-ups. We were 0-2. The O-Line didn't create many lanes. While Geathers and Jenkins took on the double-teams, none of the DEs stood out.
All this talk about Bobo's play-calling is getting old. By the way, what a great call on the Boykin TD sprint. MIke had a nice call on the Orson Charles TD catch. And that play-call on the Malcolm Mitchell TD catch was awesome too. Like most play-callers, he made some good calls and a few he wishes he had back.
Heard one guy going on about "lining up in the I-formation and pounding it from the start." We got stuffed. Our 2 RBs averaged 3.2 yards per carry. Anderson is big, but soft. He was holding on for dear life most plays.  Burnette is the center next season, not this year's guard. And Gates went down with a bad ankle. Doubt he'll be back this week.
   No wonder Searels fled Athens.
The DL is average. Geathers and Jenkins got the double-teams and the DE's couldn't make an impact. That's not good. Abry Jones had 1 TFL and 6 tackles to lead that group, but his play didn't have me thinking, "wow, he's a big-time player." Tyson had 4 tackles. Lott got shut out. Ray Drew was undercover.
What really hurt was Alec Ogletree going down early. He's now out 6-8 weeks, with a broken foot. Huge blow. Jarvis Jones was a bright spot. He played his butt off. Jarvis had 11 tackles and 2.5 TFL. He was all over the field. Grantham had him rushing Kellen Moore a lot. CB Jordan Love played tough too. He had a PBU and 4 tackles. Christian Robinson led the team with 13 stops.
We played hard. But it was "men against boys." We are relying on too many first year players. They had over 20 5th year seniors.
The only hope is they grow up quickly for this week #2 showdown with Carolina.

Their guys looked like football players. Our guys looked tike a bunch of skinny kids who couldn't take a lick. You got to have horses to pull the wagon. We don't have to leave Georgia to find football players. We used to have guys that grew up dreaming to play for the Bulldogs. A pitiful effort. Ugly, ugly uniforms!!!

What do you think about this spread offense BS? Buck why would the dawgs go away from the pro style offense that Murray threw for 3,000+ yards in last year? Interested to hear your take...

I am not sure what we should have done from the start, but when our defense was gassed Bobo should have attempted to chew a little clock in order to provide them a breather.

Makes sense, Buck. Guess we've been over it before as to why the drop off on the OL and DL....short ans. Doesn't LSU, Bama and FL go thru the same stuff and how to they end up managing.

Notre Dame had a pretty terrible day. Kelly was about ready to explode and did unload on a couple of his guys. Not sure if you saw it, but an ND receiver on about 3rd down from the S. FL 20 ran a drag route, but the ND receiver ran across the field and never looked back at the QB to catch the pass that hit him in the shoulder. Kelly reamed the hell out of the kid. No point about that other than an example of a very bad day.

Real point was Kelly's comment that said (paraphrase), "I thought after one year, our kids knew what it took to win football games (I take that as the fundamentals), but I guess we're going to have to go over all of that again".

Seems like Kelly knows how to fix things and will do so; he seems to inspire confidence. So many people love Coach Richt and Bobo, but I wonder if/why some of the fundamentals are missing. In the meantime, you and John have a lot of great job security listening to all of us vent; at the end of the day, it doesn't affect my life too much, but it's great entertainment. Keep up the great work, Buck.

PS: thanks for the blog today; you're a good juggler between all u got going on : - )

Come on Buck .. "all this Bobo talk is getting old" .. yes it is, because its the same problem over and over. No creativity and the same plays. Shotgun handoff and so on. You need to take off your homer glasses and be realistic. He makes a few calls here and there but look back the last few years, how many times have we had 3rd and less than 5 yds to go and we call a play where the receivers all go long and we get sacked.

Totally agree Buck; we didn't get the 4 interceptions I was hoping for. We can only hope both lines (OL & DL) 'mature' quickly (like next week!!).

The playcalling is so predictable that I was predicting Bobo's calls sitting in front of my TV in the 229 area code. If I can predict the calls, and I do not profess to know anything about coaching football, then its pretty sure Boise knew what was coming. You picked the three plays UGA scored on as examples of good play calls. What about the rest?
