Coach Richt Spins It Positive

Got to ride through campus today, on the way to the Mark Richt Press Conference. Another lovely day in Athens, except for that dark cloud hovering over the Butts-Mehre Building.
Mark has mastered the technique of extending the "opening comments" segment of the pressor, which limits the time the media has to ask those negative questions. He was going on and on about the Coastal Carolina depth chart. And he looked and sounded tired. Working overtime, obviously.
What he's saying about "tweaking" some things and being a factor in the SEC East later this season is true. This is a young team. This week exactly half of the starters on offense and defense are first-year starters. Lot of young pups on special teams. Got to expect some breakdowns.
This is one of the flaws. We should be restocking with upperclassmen each season, not asking these young dudes to play. Too many casualties, especially on the O-Line. How did we get so thin?
On the surface, this team is staying together. They've played hard. They talk about getting it fixed.
Having been on a team that got off to a poor start (1979), I do know how to get the car back on the road. Circle the wagons. The spotlight is gone for now. The flaws have been revealed. For the next few weeks, the 'Dogs can work on getting things cleaned up. Get all those young guys coached up. Then, come October this team has an opportunity to make some noise.

I think all the players that receive a scholarship should play out the terms for FOUR full years before leaving to go pro-that would solve this problem,or repay the school for the scholarship.
