Disrespected Dawgs Take Out State
Don't be dancin' on our logo. Mississippi State paid the price for that move.
Grantham's defense was the star of this one. State's offense got it handed to them. Georgia allowed only 3 points. One lousy FG. That State running game was held to 56 yards. Relf & Ballard combined for 23 carries and 54 yards. That's 2.3 yard per carry. We dominated on 3rd down, again (4-15). And forced 3 turnovers. That's "Hunkering Down."
Really liked how Grantham switched up the scheme. We came out and played tight man on the outside, which took away the WR screen stuff. Then, we switched of to a zone. Good stuff.
Crowell was off and running in the first half and finished with 22 carries and 104 yards. He was close to taking it to the house. But his long run ended up being 16 yards and he didn't get in the end zone. I know he's disappointed with that, but that will keep him grinding.
Murray had some good throws and a few bad ones. Aaron plays hard. He's going for it. Peddle to the medal. Might need to pull off the accelerator. In fact, that's what he needs to do. That TD toss to Orson was nice. The slant to Mitchell for a TD was perfect. The picks...not so much. But he's still growing out there. Got to remember that, on days like this.
The game's biggest swing came in the 2nd quarter. State had a shot to score and cut the lead to 14-10, but a big drop prevented that from happening. Murray led us on a scoring drive to make it 21-3. That was a 14 point swing.
Didn't see Gates block anyone. He's a weak link up front. Maybe he's still hurt. But he has got to come on. And even though our D-Line won the battle, I'm still wondering if the Dogs have an impact guy...doesn't look like it. Jenkins make an impact late in the game. Maybe he's the guy.

In typical Richt fashion, after a slow start, this team could end of one of the top teams in the country by the end of this year..no kidding.
Except for last year Buck, I don't know any other program (of course I don't pay as much attention to other programs) that improves as much as Richt's Bulldogs teams do over the course of a year. Looking so bad in the beginning sometimes, to so very good in the end.
Anyway: Defense: they are more fun to watch every week. DL got some push out of that weak Miss. St. OL. But DBs are looking real good - Sanders Cumming could/should have had 2 picks that could have gone for 6.
Boykin? This guy has to be one of the most electric players in college FB today. I've never seen a kickoff returner this good. (or maybe kickoff team). Every kick return it seems he "almost" breaks it all the way. And on defense he seems to be in on every play. Am I wrong or is he the most under-rated superstar in the SEC right now?
With Ogletree coming back(this game?) this defense is actually becomming fun to watch.
Offense: Mitchell and Crowell are both the REAL deal. Crowell is a real gem. He's got the eyes to see the field, the quick mind to map his route and the speed and agility to execute it. Every carry he makes, he gets every yard there is to get.
If our O-line could just block long enough to give Murry confidence in them so he's not always worried about getting sacked. The maybe he could settle down, make good decisions, set up properly and execute his passes.
Should have scored more TDs and FGs, but otherwise, they're becoming an exciting team to watch.
