Richt Upbeat & Confident
Coach Richt has respect for Coach Chizik's Auburn team, but you can tell he feels confident about his too. He likes how the "Dogs are playing right now. Gratham's defense is hunkering down. Murray and the young WRs are delivering. The KO cover team is looking better.
Mark pointed out the reason for the jump up in the run defense statistic, where the 'Dogs are #3 in the SEC...the D-Line got bigger and stronger, the LB unit grew up and the safety play has offered the defense strong, physical tacklers. Plus, they have a better understanding of the Grantham scheme. And the success this defense has had on 3rd down factor into the run defense too. Guys are fresher later in the game.
The one knock left on Aaron Murray surfaced again today. The knock? Murray hasn't quarterbacked the 'Dogs to a victory over a Top 25 team. Isn't it a team game?
Murray has really settled in. He's playing at a very high level. Leads the SEC in pass efficiency. Experiencve tells me that he is now comfortable with his decision-making. He's not forcing balls into spots where bad things happen. Aaron is taking advantage of his running ability, especially on 3rd down. Dude has 23 TD passes now. Impressive.
Crowell is the starter for Saturday. Richt sounds very confident, when talking about Isaiah. Sure hope he plays big against Auburn. Crowell needs to carry the load. Bet Coach Bobo is planning on a minimum of 20 touches.
