Crowell: SEC Freshman of the Year
Congratulations to Isaiah Crowell. The most celebrated member of last year's "Dream Team" has been recognized as the SEC Freshman of the Year.
Isaiah just cruised the the finish line, for this award. Let me check. He rushed for 26 yards, in the final 3 games. Must have had a big lead. Or there just wasn't much competition.
Tennessee's freshman LB A.J. Johnson played in 12 games and ended the season with 80 tackles. Not sure why he didn't win the award. He did play in 12 games. And he didn't get suspended. South Carolina's Jadaveon Clowney played in 12 games and had 6 sacks/10 TFL. Defensive players always seem to get the short end of the stick, with these awards.
Isaiah's goal was to be a "Freshman All-American." Not sure he'll reach that one, because of the way he finished the season. But his freshman year was good enough to be recognized in the SEC.
So much was expected of this guy. It's hard not to feel a little let down. But maybe we just expected too much. He was a freshman, who was trying to find his way in big-time CF.
