Weis Leaves Muschamp-Florida For Kansas

Charlie Weis didn't stay with Muschamp long. One bad year and he's off to Kansas. Kansas? Yeah, surprising, uh?
The Gators had Coach Weis on the hook, for 3 years and $2.6M. And Charlie had $6.4M coming in from Notre Dame, on an installment plan. So, it looked like Weis was going to be on Muschamp's staff for a while. Not so. He was one and done. Guess he didn't enjoy working under the young Muschamp anymore.
Will tickles me with his emphatic comments. "I will hire the best OC in the country," he stated yesterday, after the news on Weis broke. By the way, he had known about this for a few days. Anyway, so I guess Muschamp will go get Packers OC Joe Philbin or Saints OC Pete Carmichael, right? Those are the top 2 OC's in football.
Okay, so Will was just being Will. The Gators won't get the "best OC in football."
But they can get former Gator QB Kerwin Bell, who I spent some time with at the SEC Title Game. Kerwin is currently the head coach at JU. LIke most all coaches, Kerwin has great passion for the game AND working with young men. He would be a good hire. But I wonder if he would get full control of the offense AND Weis money? Kerwin won't take just any offer.
During the Gator Bowl preperation and the game against Ohio State, Muschamp will turn the offense over to RB Coach Brian White, who was the Wisconsin OC for years. We'll see how that goes. He's also a candidate. But is he "the best OC in football?"
Coach Muschamp is going to have a busy holiday season...he's got to go shopping for players AND 3 new coaches. Weis is expected to take OL Coach Frank Verducci with him to KU and the strength coach has already left to join Urban at Ohio State.
